Definitely, since I decided to get hexalisted with 10k medals I'm all about medal games. In fact, games with medals are the only games I complete nowadays, feels like I don't have time for any regular (online) games any longer. The more medals; the easier they are to get, the better! But I'm hoping to eventually make my way through all existing medal games on the site... it definately adds to the time I spend on a game, depending on how the achievements are unlocked (IOW if they require you to spend a lot of time on certain aspects of a game). If it's too time-consuming though, and not my kind of game, I'll skip it. Medals with moderation are great.

Oh wow. that's quite the medal collection you've got there. I can definitely see how it gives you a lot of additional gameplay time other games can't. Though there definitely are a lot of games that use medals on Newgrounds. How long do you think it'll take to beat them all?
Thanks, still a long way to go though! :) At the pace I'm going it'll probably take a couple of years, and new games keep popping up so... who knows. I'm not that great with some genres either so it feels like I waste way too much time on some of these games, spending hours on a single game... not very efficient. :P
I remember when games didn't have achievements either btw, good times. It was easier to just play games for fun back then, now they easily become an obsession. It's more about medals than the actual games... wonder which one started it all? Any idea?
I'm not sure which game had the first medals. I know medals and trophies were inspired by the Xbox 360's Achievement System, but you got me. I have no idea. I'm sure if you go back enough through the newgrounds announcement posts you could probably find out. Might take a while though.

I play games because games are awesome. But sometimes, I like to play to get some challenging achievements like "kill 10000 enemies" or "get 1000000 points". Is pretty cool.

One achievement I enjoy is getting to wins in a row on online ranking matches in Street Fighter. That's something I feel like I can brag about.
